Bonanza Headbands

For me, nothing is more satisfying than knitting something beautiful (bonus if it’s also practical!) out of stash yarn. Mostly because I tend to acquire yarn in a state of stash-denial. Browsing gorgeous colors and fibers while thinking “I’ll just cruise through Ravelry later.” However, this knee-jerk yarn shopping usually results in anonymous, half-used balls a few months down the road.  Knitting to the very end of the ball, although difficult, is the best way to rationalize my yarn habit.

Enter the Bonanza Headband; a simple free knitting pattern that will turn your  existing stash into a quick-knitting gold mine! Easily adapted to a variety of weights and fibers, the Bonanza Headband project uses eleven yards (approximately four grams) of fingering or DK weight yarn, a plastic headband, and US size 4 double pointed needles.

Quick projects, like this headband, are also a great way to keep a little memento of projects you’ve knitted and given away. The headbands pictured top are done in leftovers of Colinette Jitterbug ‘Wasabi Squee’, Madelinetosh Pashmina ‘Well Water’ and Madelinetosh DK ‘Ink’. So go ahead, cast-on some gift socks in Jitterbug , or a decadent wrap in Pashmina, and get a  couple headbands to boot!

In other news: Next week we will be giving away some gorgeous kits from Blue Sky Alpacas! Each kit includes beautiful alpaca yarns and a pattern from Blue Sky Alpacas, wrapped up in a Pretty Cheep drawstring project bag! Keep an eye on our Facebook page for details, the giveaway will launch on Thursday, August 16th.

Happy Knitting!
-Emma
